Grace and peace on the Feast of the Transfiguration; a blessing to celebrate the Feast Day on a Sunday. Today was pleasant as we began the journey into August. This week holds much in store. Some community events, some mundane Church events (vestry), and a time to reflect on where we are heading for the remainder of our church year. The day was warm and sunny but nicer than it has been in past weeks.

The Feast of the Transfiguration gave us a second opportunity this year (the first being the Last Sunday of Epiphany) to consider our relationship with the revealed God in Christ. The stories from scripture told an esoteric story of the Transfiguration, Peter’s recounting of the day, and the image of Moses’ shining face. The revelation of God is awesome and terrifying but once we share the personal side of the meeting with God the door is opened for all to see God as welcoming and inviting.

I invite your comments,
