Choir Room Piano – Many thanks to those who supported the addition of the piano to our Choir Room. We pray it helps lead and develop the choir when we kick off.

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday – Our Shrove Tuesday pancake supper celebration will be held Tuesday February 13 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. The cost for pancakes remains the same as previous years: $5/person or $15/family of 3 or more. Jim Tankovich will lead our efforts again this year.
Ash Wednesday Imposition of Ashes and Eucharist will be held February 14 beginning at 12:00 pm. Please come and kick off your Lenten journey.

Inclement Weather Policy – Safety is first and foremost at St. John’s. We will follow the Suffolk School District with respect to closures. If we have an event planned expect it to continue as scheduled BUT if you do NOT feel safe getting to the Church, please stay home. Your safety is more important to us than your presence is.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 111 together. The Psalm will be set to Hymn 43, “All praise to thee, my God, this night,” (The Eighth Tune) from the Hymnal. The words and music will be found on a bulletin insert.

Formation Classes – This week will discuss “My Servants the Prophets,” chapter 3, Joel. Next week’s class we will continue our discussions from “My Servants the Prophets.” Check you Wednesday Christian Education e-mail for the chapter as some chapters will take more than one Sunday to get through. All are invited to join the conversation in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am.

Church Quiz – Over the coming weeks we will have a “Church Quiz” as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question Concerning the books of 1 & 2 Chronicles: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Answer: The books of 1 & 2 Chronicles are found in the Historical Books division of the Old Testament; 1 Chronicles has 29 chapters and 2 Chronicles has 36 chapters.
This week’s question: Concerning the book of the Colossians: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Look for the answer next week.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Ongoing: Tuesdays – Boy Scouts meeting. Jan. 30 – Card Crafters; Feb. 6 – Vestry Meeting; Feb. 13 – Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper; Feb. 14 – Ash Wednesday.

Thought for the week – Reach: In Christ, in the life of Christ, we reach forward into greater life, beyond ourselves, beyond our own life into the greater life of Christ. From lesser into greater… Love, in all its manifestations is the ultimate reaching beyond ourselves.
