Blessings and peace to you as September draws to a close and we approach the end of hurricane season on the east coast. Thankfully our neighborhood was spared last week but we are impacted by the hurricane/tropical storm, by association, that has caused so much damage in the Carolinas and other places in Virginia. This serves as a reminder to be ready and to look out for our friends and neighbors near and far. Yet, it’s not about the storm exclusively, the autumnal equinox has passed and we await the coming of fall.
Our worship was filled with readings about wisdom and how a wise person depends on God for true wisdom. We heard the description of the “perfect wife” (helper) and the traits which build up society. We also heard James continue to stress action and faith – you can’t have one without the other. The challenge of our scripture and life is to truly live into the reality of our changed lives in the person of Jesus and to trust the authority of sharing that truth. As we search for relevance that should be the place we look – living a changed life and inviting others to find change for the better with God.
I invite your comments,
