Parish Meeting and Winter Potluck – This Sunday, January 6, we will have a Parish Meeting and Potluck following worship and de-greening the Church. All are invited to come for fellowship and a discussion about the state of the Parish; Pledges and Budget; and our Annual plan.

De-greening the Church for Christmas – We will de-green the church this Sunday following worship. Everyone’s help will be needed, and it shouldn’t take a long time to remove the remainder of the greens and poinsettias.

The Service of Christmas Lessons and Carols – Thank you to all who participated in the Service of Christmas Lessons and Carols last week. The lessons were moving as usual.

Formation Classes – All are invited to come together in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am. We will begin a study reflecting on the weekly lessons from the Revised Common Lectionary.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 72:1-7, 10-14 together.

Diocesan Bishop Search Prayer – Almighty and most gracious God, source of all wisdom and guidance, send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we seek and discern a shepherd for the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Inspire us with hope, hearts to love you and a desire to serve one another. Grant us grace to entrust you with the future of your Church and all things. We ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Church Quiz – Over the coming weeks we will have a “Church Quiz” as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question Concerning the books of 1 & 2 Samuel: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Answer: The books of 1 & 2 Samuel are found in the Historical Books division of the Old Testament; 1 Samuel has 31 chapters and 2 Samuel has 24 chapters.
This week’s question: Concerning the books of 1 & 2 Thessalonians: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Look for the answer next week.

Altar flower Sign-up – There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for sponsoring flowers for the coming year. Please help beautify the altar during your choice of two-weeks this coming year.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Thought for the week Hope: What is Jesus? He’s as human as you, and he’s as human as me. And he’s more. Jesus is fully alive. He lives the abundant life and invites us to share it. Jesus is God with us and Jesus is human. He promises to stay with us. Here is the hope of Christmas.
