Diocesan Bishop Search Prayer – Almighty and most gracious God, source of all wisdom and guidance, send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we seek and discern a shepherd for the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Inspire us with hope, hearts to love you and a desire to serve one another. Grant us grace to entrust you with the future of your Church and all things. We ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Lake Prince Woods Presentation – Lake Prince Woods will offer a presentation to Military Veterans and their spouses on Tuesday, January 22, at 2:00 pm about: (1) the Veteran’s Pension Benefit program, (2) information from the Virginia Asset Group about Long Term Care and legal papers, and (3) information about Home Care Insurance and Medicare plans. Please contact Tammy Garrett at 757-923-5504 or for more information or to register to attend.

Lenten Program – Please take a moment and consider what information would be most beneficial for us to study this coming Lent. As you consider what to study, also consider at what time would you participate in the study.

Formation Classes – All are invited to come together in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am. We will begin a study reflecting on the weekly lessons from the Revised Common Lectionary.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 36:5-10 together.

Church Quiz – Over the coming weeks we will have a “Church Quiz” as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question Concerning the books of 1 & 2 Timothy: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Answer: The books of 1 & 2 Timothy are found in the Pauline Epistles division of the New Testament; 1 Timothy has 6 chapters and 2 Timothy has 4 chapters.
This week’s question: Concerning the book of Titus: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Look for the answer next week.

Altar flower Sign-up – There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for sponsoring flowers for the coming year. Please help beautify the altar during your choice of two-weeks this coming year.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Tuesdays through June: Boy Scouts (7:00 – 8:30 pm); Jan. 21 – Martin Luther King Jr. holiday (office closed), G. F. W. C. Junto Women’s Group; Jan. 23 – Convocation IV Pre-Council meeting; Jan. 29 – Card Crafters.

Thought for the week Baptism: Even from before we were born, we have known Love’s jealous demand for our whole selves. By the grace of Christ crucified and risen, we have been mysteriously and relentlessly drawn into Jesus’ community of faith, nurture and transformation. Holy Baptism, which we received for the forgiveness of sins, is itself a response to the message and call of Jesus.
