Diocesan Bishop Search Prayer – Almighty and most gracious God, source of all wisdom and guidance, send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we seek and discern a shepherd for the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Inspire us with hope, hearts to love you and a desire to serve one another. Grant us grace to entrust you with the future of your Church and all things. We ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

2020 Holy Land Pilgrimage – Bishop Jay Magness will be hosting another pilgrimage to the Holy Land in February 2020. The trip will be from February 3-14, 2020 departing and returning to Norfolk. Registration closes June 7. The cost for the trip is $4,750 all-expenses paid except for personal items purchased and travel insurance. There are brochures available with more information.

Formation Classes – All are invited to come together in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am. We will begin a study reflecting on the weekly lessons from the Revised Common Lectionary.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 148 together.

Questions about the Episcopal Church and its Leadership – Over the coming weeks we will have a question about our Church and Leadership as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question: What is a bishop suffragan? Answer: A bishop suffragan is elected by the diocese and acts as an assistant to, and under the direction of, the bishop diocesan.
This week’s question: What is the General Convention? Look for the answer next week.

Altar flower Sign-up – There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for sponsoring flowers for the coming year. Please help beautify the altar during your choice of two-weeks this coming year.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Tuesdays through June: Boy Scouts (7:00 – 8:30 pm); May 19 – Vespers at Lake Prince Woods, Concert at Suffolk Presbyterian Church; May 20 – Vestry meeting; May 27 – Memorial Day (office closed).

Thought for the weekUs: Jesus always worked with groups. He spoke to groups, he fed groups, ate with groups, healed people in groups. When we read he encountered individuals, they were representatives of a group, or he sent these individuals back to groups. It’s not about me, individually, or you, individually; it’s about us.
