Diocesan Bishop Search Prayer – Almighty and most gracious God, source of all wisdom and guidance, send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we seek and discern a shepherd for the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Inspire us with hope, hearts to love you and a desire to serve one another. Grant us grace to entrust you with the future of your Church and all things. We ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Questions about the Episcopal Church and its Leadership – Over the coming weeks we will have a question about our Church and Leadership as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question: What is the significance of the X-shaped cross on the Episcopal shield? Answer: It is the cross of St. Andrew, patron saint of Scotland, and recalls the Episcopal Church’s indebtedness to the Scottish Episcopal Church for the consecration of its first bishop, Samuel Seabury, as Bishop of Connecticut in 1784.
This week’s question: What is the significance of the blue field in the upper left corner of the Episcopal shield? On which Book of Common Prayer was it modeled? Look for the answer next week.

Altar flower Sign-up – There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for sponsoring flowers for the coming year. Please help beautify the altar during your choice of two-weeks this coming year.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Tuesdays through June: Boy Scouts (7:00 – 8:30 pm); July 4 – holiday (office closed); July 13 – James River Rug Hookers; July 15 – Junto Pizza party and Vestry meeting.

Thought for the weekRefuge: God is frequently described as our refuge, and the rest and safety of God is a magnificent gift. But when our resting places have become places of fear, complacency, or stagnation, God comes to our inner hiding places and asks, “What are you doing here?” He calls us from these caves.
