Last week’s question and answer: Question: What do the following terms mean: ambo, apse, baptistery, chancel, reredos? Answer. Ambo: Another (more historic) name for the pulpit, reading desk, or lectern; Apse: The semicircular (or polygon) projection or alcove at the end of the chancel in traditional church architecture; Baptistery: The area in which the baptismal font is located; Chancel: Elevated area where altar and, in some churches, pulpit/ambo are located; Reredos: Carved stone or wood panel behind and above an eastwall altar.
This week’s question: What do the following terms mean: burse, corporal, fair linen? Look for the answer next week.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Thought for the weekSpeak: Jesus rises up and rebukes the winds and they cease at the sound of his voice. We may not have the power to calm waves and storms, but there is power in our speech, and speaking boldly to our fears can help us overcome them.
