City-wide Thanksgiving Service – Save the date! There will be a city-wide Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00 pm, at East End Baptist Church. Bishop Clarence Russell, pastor at St. Paul’s Baptist Church, will be the speaker for the evening. The service will have a massed choir to support the worship service. Details about rehearsals are forthcoming.

Oakland Christian UCC Events – (1) Oakland Christian UCC will be hosting their Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 26 beginning at 5:00 pm. This event is open to the public. (2) They will be having their 25th annual Fall Fest on November 2 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Come support our neighbors.

Fall Workday – Our annual fall workday is scheduled for Saturday, October 19. Please save the day and plan on helping spruce up the property for the coming seasons.

Our Bishop-elect – On Saturday, September 21, the Diocese elected as their 11th Bishop Diocesan, The Rev. Susan Haynes from the Diocese of North Indiana. Her election needs to be confirmed by a majority of Diocesan Standing Committees. Her Consecration is scheduled for early February 2020.

All Saints Sunday and Veterans Day – Please turn in your slips as soon as possible. We must have them by Oct 27th. In addition, All Saints Day is our potluck day.

Boy Scout Troop 25 Eagle Court of Honor – Our Boy Scout Troop will have an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on October 26 in the Sanctuary and a reception in the Parish Hall following the ceremony.

Formation Classes – All are invited to come together in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am. We are continuing our study of the Acts of the Apostles. Please contact the church office for a copy of the text.

Soles-for-Souls – Edward Jones is sponsoring a shoe collection drive.  The program sends gently used shoes to people in need overseas. Please bring your used shoes to church to help this worthy cause. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing 66:1-11 together.
