Oakland Christian UCC Events – (1) Oakland Christian UCC will be hosting their Trunk or Treat event this Saturday, October 26 beginning at 5:00 pm. This event is open to the public. (2) They will be having their 25th annual Fall Fest on November 2 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Come support our neighbors.

Clergy Conference – Fr. Les will be out of the office Tuesday and Wednesday next week, Oct. 29-30, for the fall clergy conference at Camp Chanco. He is available via cell phone in emergencies. He, and Don, will be in the office on Thursday.

City-wide Thanksgiving Service – Save the date! There will be a city-wide Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00 pm, at East End Baptist Church. Bishop Clarence Russell, pastor at St. Paul’s Baptist Church, will be the speaker for the evening. The service will have a massed choir to support the worship service. Details about rehearsals are forthcoming.

City-wide Thanksgiving Service Choir – The massed-choir rehearsal for the city-wide service will be held Sat. Nov. 16 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Baptist Church, 806 Lincoln Ave., Suffolk, VA.

All Saints Sunday and Veterans Day – Please turn in your slips as soon as possible. We must have them by Oct 27th. In addition, All Saints Day is our potluck day.

Boy Scout Troop 25 Eagle Court of Honor – Our Boy Scout Troop will have an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on October 26 in the Sanctuary and a reception in the Parish Hall following the ceremony.

Formation Classes – All are invited to come together in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am. We are continuing our study of the Acts of the Apostles. Please contact the church office for a copy of the text.

Soles-for-Souls – Edward Jones is sponsoring a shoe collection drive.  The program sends gently used shoes to people in need overseas. Please bring your used shoes to church to help this worthy cause. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 65 together.

Questions about the Episcopal Church and its Leadership – Over the coming weeks we will have a question about our Church and Leadership as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
