Community Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration – The annual Martin Luther King Jr. service and scholarship presentation will be held at East End Baptist Church, 1056 Portsmouth Blvd., Suffolk, on Monday January 20 beginning at 10:00 am. Please come and join the celebration with other churches in our community (and the rector has a speaking part).

Message from the Bishop-elect – As we approach the consecration of our new Bishop Diocesan on February 2, the Bishop-elect sent a reflection on the Feast of the Name of Jesus (Jan. 1). She challenges us to do five things to grow our faith this year: read the bible every day, pray every day, do acts of charity (anonymously if possible), attend church weekly, and trust that God is at work in every person you meet. The entire reflection can be found at:

Thought for the weekEpiphany: Epiphany is a time of revelation and awareness of Jesus as God Emmanuel: “God with us.” Observe how God is working in you and through you. If you’re unsure of how God is manifest in your life, then make that your prayer. Ask Jesus for a star to guide you and to shed some light in your life.
