Sunday Worship – We will conduct a hybrid worship this Sunday in the Parish Hall for worship “for now” and have taken steps to provide social distancing and safe worship. We have also set up to live-stream worship on our YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/qiYuiDOlqFM.
            Please consider assisting with in-person worship by reading a lesson or the Prayers of the People. Lessons will be read from the podium and the Prayers of the People may be read from your seat in church.

Caution on Church Grounds – In the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias, a few trees and branches have fallen on the church grounds. Please be careful if you come to the church, especially in front of the Parish Hall because the chestnut tree has dropped a lot of nuts.

In-person Gathering Plan – We have started regathering for worship for those who feel safe to do so. Those who decide to attend worship will have to observe these requirements:
* Wear masks in worship             * Maintain social distance
* Communion in one kind           * Initially in the Parish Hall
* No singing but with music        * Simulcast for those at home
* Local account of attendance
            More details have been provided separately.

Treasurer Resignation – Susan has served as Treasurer for number of years. She has tendered her resignation effective January 2021 (although she will assist with the audit). To prepare for the transition, she will train an assistant for the remainder of 2020 in the procedures for the position. If you are interested in serving, please contact the Rector.

St. John’s YouTube Channel – As part of our practice during the COVID-19 Social Distancing time we created a YouTube Channel. For the moment, we share worship videos (both live stream and pre-recorded), but in the future we will connect classes and other offerings on the Channel. Our channel URL is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2QWNHHKVPYpp8mKcveYd5A

Altar flower Sign-up – There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for sponsoring flowers for the coming year which will not become necessary until we reconvene for worship. As the day approaches, please help beautify the altar during your choice of two-weeks this coming year. Please remember, flowers cost $100 for 2 weeks.

Soles-for-Souls – There is a collection box to help this worthy cause in the parish hall. Consider giving gently used or new shoes for those in need. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.

Thought for the weekFailure: Like the disciples, we have much to learn on the road to discipleship. Like them, we will often fail. We ought not to be discouraged by these failures; they are a necessary part of our conversion and transformation. Refuse to berate or disparage yourself. Confess your failings, learn from them and move on. The path of discipleship is long, but you can be sure that the risen Christ will bring you home at last.
