Sunday Worship – We will conduct a hybrid worship this Sunday in the Parish Hall for worship “for now” and have taken steps to provide social distancing and safe worship. We have also set up to live-stream worship on our YouTube channel at:
Please consider assisting with in-person worship by reading a lesson or the Prayers of the People. Lessons will be read from the podium and the Prayers of the People may be read from your seat in church.

CAPS Fundraiser – Thank you to all who participated in the CAPS fundraiser this year. The event was fabulous.

Parish functioning during Rector absence – The Vestry has agreed on a list of items which need attention during the Rector’s recovery. Items that will need assistance are, attending worship, leading worship on 2 Sundays (Morning Prayer), a couple days to check building security, and other sundry items. Please be on the lookout for an email with specific needs.

Clergy retreat – Fr. Les will be at a clergy retreat led by our Bishop on September 28-30. The retreat is entitled “Come away with me and rest.” In his absence you can contact the Senior Warden, Junior Warden, or any Vestry member if you need Pastoral Care.

Parish Hall Usage – The Vestry affirmed that the Parish Hall is NOT available for outside group use. This is in line with the recommendation from the Diocesan Office as part of the regathering plan. The Vestry is reevaluating reopening the Parish Hall for outside groups as conditions change and warrant.

Treasurer Resignation – Susan has served as Treasurer for number of years. She has tendered her resignation effective January 2021 (although she will assist with the audit). To prepare for the transition, she will train an assistant for the remainder of 2020 in the procedures for the position. If you are interested in serving, please contact the Rector.

St. John’s YouTube Channel – As part of our practice during the COVID-19 Social Distancing time we created a YouTube Channel. For the moment, we share worship videos (both live stream and pre-recorded), but in the future we will connect classes and other offerings on the Channel. Our channel URL is:

Soles-for-Souls – There is a collection box to help this worthy cause in the parish hall. Consider giving gently used or new shoes for those in need. For more information see their website:

Thought for the weekPeriphery: Walking along, likely amid a crowd asking questions, Jesus saw Matthew. Jesus paid attention to the periphery and saw those looked down on or overlooked. Matthew, an outcast seen and invited in, experienced Jesus’ mercy. How do we learn mercy? Look widely. Pay attention not only to those close to you. Look to the periphery; see and welcome the outcast and stranger.
