Sunday Worship – We will conduct a hybrid worship this Sunday in the Parish Hall for worship and have taken steps to provide social distancing and safe worship. We have also set up to live-stream worship on our YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/7dpyMJJLV4Y.
Please consider assisting with in-person worship by reading a lesson or the Prayers of the People. Lessons will be read from the podium and the Prayers of the People may be read from your seat in church.

Updated guidelines for Holy Communion during COVID – Bishop Hayes convened a task force to help identify guidelines for the exceptional administration of Communion during COVID-19. A summary of the guidelines is a method has been developed to include those who are isolated from in-person worship in the celebration of Communion. The guidance is available here. Upon the Rector’s return following surgery we will incorporate this guidance in our worship.

Parish functioning during Rector absence – The Vestry has agreed on a list of items which need attention during the Rector’s recovery. Items that will need assistance are, attending worship, leading worship on 2 Sundays (Morning Prayer), a couple days to check building security, and other sundry items. Please be on the lookout for an email with specific needs.

Parish Hall Usage – The Vestry affirmed that the Parish Hall is NOT available for outside group use. This is in line with the recommendation from the Diocesan Office as part of the regathering plan. The Vestry is reevaluating reopening the Parish Hall for outside groups as conditions change and warrant.

Treasurer Resignation – Susan has served as Treasurer for number of years. She has tendered her resignation effective January 2021 (although she will assist with the audit). To prepare for the transition, she will train an assistant for the remainder of 2020 in the procedures for the position. If you are interested in serving, please contact the Rector.

St. John’s YouTube Channel – As part of our practice during the COVID-19 Social Distancing time we created a YouTube Channel. For the moment, we share worship videos (both live stream and pre-recorded), but in the future we will connect classes and other offerings on the Channel. Our channel URL is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2QWNHHKVPYpp8mKcveYd5A

Soles-for-Souls – There is a collection box to help this worthy cause in the parish hall. Consider giving gently used or new shoes for those in need. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.

Thought for the weekFear: Fear is not a sign of the absence of God. In our fear we rather find the bidding presence of God. Our fear most often arises out of something that is bigger than we are, and we find that in and of ourselves, there isn’t enough – not enough energy, or patience, or hope, or encouragement, or provision. We come up short. Where is God in your fear? What is the invitation from God in your fear?
