Sunday Worship – We will conduct a remote worship as part of our response to the uptick in COVID cases and provide safe worship. For those desiring, please contact the Rector to pick up pre-consecrate elements for at-home Communion. We have also set up to live-stream worship on our YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/cUY5rIkL8VI.

Pastoral responses – Please continue to pray for the safety of our nation and its people. We pray that our divisions may cease or be lessened in the coming weeks and months. Please check out the Presiding Bishop’s commentary from January 6 and our Diocesan Bishop’s reflection on their websites. Our Bishop’s statement is available here. The statement from Bishop Curry is available here.

Lenten Study – Ash Wednesday is on February 17. We will have a Lenten study and we will use a form of video sharing to hold the class. Please contact the Rector for more information and assistance once the class is announced.

Diocesan Virtual Town Hall Meeting – Next Thursday, January 14, our Bishop Diocesan will host a virtual Town Hall meeting via Zoom from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. You need to register to join the meeting. The registration link is: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0rceCvrj0pE9axMcf3bQSIPdauMvbWvH3F.

2021 Vision – As we turn the calendar to 2021, I invite you to join me and the Vestry as we reflect on our vision for 2021 and beyond. Where do you see our Parish in one, three, five, and ten years? What can you do to help make that vision a reality?

Communion for at-home worship – There will be consecrated elements for parishioners to have at home while participating in remote Communion services. Please contact the Rector to coordinate delivery of elements.

2021 Pledge Cards – Please drop by the office to pick up your pledge card for 2021. It is an important part of the St. John’s budget process. Please submit your completed pledge card as soon as possible.

St. John’s YouTube Channel – As part of our practice during the COVID-19 Social Distancing time we created a YouTube Channel. For the moment, we share worship videos (both live stream and pre-recorded), but in the future we will connect classes and other offerings on the Channel. Our channel URL is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2QWNHHKVPYpp8mKcveYd5A

Soles-for-Souls – There is a collection box to help this worthy cause in the parish hall. Consider giving gently used or new shoes for those in need. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.

Thought for the weekDignity: Although we may not share a common baptism with everyone, we do share our humanity with women and men the world over. To deny the goodness or the dignity of another is to deny the goodness and dignity of God, in whose image and likeness we have all been created. Such a denial of God’s goodness is nothing short of blasphemy.
