Sunday Worship – We will conduct a remote worship as part of our response to the uptick in COVID cases and provide safe worship. For those desiring, please contact the Rector to pick up pre-consecrate elements for at-home Communion. We have also set up to live-stream worship on our YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/Yj5IrHyyDRI.

Lenten Study – Ash Wednesday is on February 17. We will have a Lenten study and we will use a form of video sharing to hold the class. Please contact the Rector for more information and assistance once the class is announced.

Vestry News – At our Vestry meeting on January 19, we welcomed Leone and bid farewell to David from the Vestry. The Vestry elected Jim as Senior Warden and Bert as Junior Warden. The Vestry affirmed Suze as Treasurer for 2021.
The Vestry changed its meeting time to the third Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. We are looking for someone to serve as Parish Register as an officer of the Vestry. Given the change in time and date, please consider serving as Register. If you want to serve, please contact the Rector.

Flowers on the Altar – While we may not be worshipping in person, there are flowers on the altar during the worship service.  Please volunteer to sponsor flowers by contacting the office.

2021 Vision – As we turn the calendar to 2021, I invite you to join me and the Vestry as we reflect on our vision for 2021 and beyond. Where do you see our Parish in one, three, five, and ten years? What can you do to help make that vision a reality?

Communion for at-home worship – There will be consecrated elements for parishioners to have at home while participating in remote Communion services. Please contact the Rector to coordinate delivery of elements.

2021 Pledge Cards – Please drop by the office to pick up your pledge card for 2021. It is an important part of the St. John’s budget process. Please submit your completed pledge card as soon as possible.

St. John’s YouTube Channel – As part of our practice during the COVID-19 Social Distancing time we created a YouTube Channel. For the moment, we share worship videos (both live stream and pre-recorded), but in the future we will connect classes and other offerings on the Channel. Our channel URL is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2QWNHHKVPYpp8mKcveYd5A

Soles-for-Souls – There is a collection box to help this worthy cause in the parish hall. Consider giving gently used or new shoes for those in need. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.

Thought for the weekGrace: Jesus chooses to build his church upon Peter’s leadership, not because Peter was so strong – strong though he was – but because he was so weak. Peter’s brokenness became Jesus’ real breakthrough to him. It’s not that Peter was amazing; God’s grace was amazing. And so it is with us: God’s grace being made perfect in our weakness.
