In worship we considered the part that God plays in our ability to do good, for ourselves, for our church, and for our community. Matthew’s gospel provided some detailed reflection of the Commandments – especially murder, adultery, and dishonoring your neighbor. Our Psalmist reminded us that the happy ones are the ones who pay attention to God’s laws and honor God. Paul reminds us that the part we play in God’s plan is the part we are supposed to play; it’s God’s plan and we do our part in God’s plan. Much of the focus of our sermon today reflected on Deuteronomy and the request from Moses to the Israelites to “choose between life and death.” When we choose life there are responsibilities we have, and a part we will play in God’s plan. What is your part in God’s plan?
