In worship today we contemplated the Trinity and the ever-present grace of God, from the very beginning until the very end. We are reminded that God has provided us Jesus to redeem us and give us an example to strive for and the Holy Spirit to guide us on our journey as we shape our lives after God in Christ. Today, our Hebrew Bible lesson was the story of creation from Genesis. We are reminded that God created all that is with intent and purpose, each part is ordered exactly how God intended it – even when we usurp the intended order. Our Epistle from second Corinthians reminds us to live a life of affection – not one that is lovey-dovey but one that shares commitment to the greater whole. The Gospel from Matthew continued the sending message by Jesus after his resurrection and the reminder that he (and the Holy Spirit) will be with us until the end of the age.
A reminder for us in these times beset with political and social strife and the dissolution of our normal ways of life for a time. God is in control and God has a plan. All we are required to do is work with God’s Holy Spirit to keep ourselves on the path to the planned finish.
