In worship we celebrated the Feast of the Trinity. Ironically, this Sunday is the only Sunday that revolves around a doctrine as opposed to a definite scripture. But that doesn’t make the presence of Trinity Sunday any less biblical or less important to our formation as Christians. For it is specifically the Trinity that brings our identity – believers in the triune God. Yet, as Augustine stated (in The Trinity) our words to describe the Trinity fail. But those same words, genuinely and simply spoken create an opportunity to share the mystery of God involved in our very-human lives. Trinity Sunday, punctuated by stories of Wisdom (Proverbs 8) and childlike faith (Psalm 8), help feed our faithful life in community. That, specifically, is the message of the Trinity.
