In worship today we heard many familiar stories, some of which can be misunderstood. Not because the stories are poorly related, rather because what we’ve been told about the lessons may not actually be what is the message. We heard Paul talk about there being no condemnation for those in Christ, condemnation may come from failing to live a life of faith in the face of our fears and the world. We also heard Matthew related Jesus’ parable of the sower. The, apparently bad farmer, sows seed all over the place. But notice, Matthew nor Jesus makes a qualitative statement about the sower – just that he did his job sowing God’s message. How are we encouraged to do our work of sowing the message of redemption and letting God do God’s work of making the word grow?
