In worship we have been drawing the year to a close. Our collect, the prayer offered to center our worship and focus us on our institutional relationship with God and each other reminded us about the importance of Scripture. We know, from scripture, our lives are filled with hope and promise because God created us and sent Jesus to save us from our sins. A couple themes in our readings today: God is with us all the time and has saved God’s chosen people time and time again: Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Rome, and (more importantly) in-fighting. What our relationship with scripture should do is encourage us to do the hard work of spreading God’s message; using our talents alongside other believers; and shining the light of hope to a society and culture that seems to be losing hope.
I invite your comments and prayers,
