Inclement Weather Policy – Safety is first and foremost at St. John’s. We will follow the Suffolk School District with respect to closures. If we have an event planned expect it to continue as scheduled BUT if you do NOT feel safe getting to the Church, please stay home. Your safety is more important to us than your presence is.

Snow Day Experiment – This past Sunday when it was unsafe to get into the Church we tried a “live” experiment. Beginning at 10:30 am through St. John’s Facebook page the Rector did a live-stream of Morning Prayer followed by the sermon for this past week. We are looking for a different platform to live-stream, hopefully YouTube, as an option. Please keep your eyes open for more information.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 139:1-5, 12-17 together. The Psalm will be set to Hymn 121, “Christ, when for us you were baptized,” (Caithness) from the Hymnal. The words and music will be found on a bulletin insert.

Formation Classes – Next week’s class will discuss “My Servants the Prophets,” chapter 2, Obadiah. All are invited to join the conversation in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am.

“Job Jar” – The Vestry has moved to create a “Job Jar” that will be filled with simple tasks that will help do simple maintenance around the church grounds. The goal is to break down needed repairs to 30-60-minute tasks that anyone can do. The jar will be in the Parish House or Sanctuary, depending on the day. Stop by and help do some needed work at the Church.

Church Quiz – Over the coming weeks we will have a “Church Quiz” as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question Concerning the book of Acts of the Apostles: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Answer: The book of the Acts of the Apostles is found in the New Testament; in the division: the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles; it has 28 chapters.
This week’s question: Concerning the book of Amos: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Look for the answer next week.

2018 Flower Chart – The schedule for 2018 is posted in the Narthex. Please sign-up for your special days. If you have any questions, contact Lynn.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Ongoing: Tuesdays – Boy Scouts meeting (returning in the New Year). Jan. 9 – Vestry Meeting; Jan. 14 – Annual Meeting; Jan. 15 – Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (Office Closed) and Junto Women’s Group meeting.

Thought for the week – Blessing: What you’re searching for, you already know. God has blessed us with this amazing life, with eyes to see, ears to hear, a mind to discern, and a heart in which to perceive the living presence of God in our midst.
