Grace and greetings on the second Sunday of Advent. Today broke mixed – snow and rain, cool and cloudy; quite the change from last week. Even without the sun and energy of the reenactment in the afternoon, today was filled with hope and blessings. Plenty of folks were here to sing and offer prayers as we continued our journey through Advent.

In worship we built on the foundation laid last week about the days (of the Lord) coming. Malachi, the messenger, helped us remember there are messengers in our midst – sometimes we are the messenger for others – and that we need to be refined by God to share the message of hope. Yet the world of Christians is not wholly focused on the future, Paul reminds us that the present is founded by God and the future is where the promise is realized. Our readings and worship today remind us that our ongoing conversation is between the life and God’s presence now – with an eye on the future.

I invite your comments,
