Construction Work on Parish House – Bayview Exteriors has started work on the Parish House trim and gutters and, weather cooperating, they should be done by the end of the week. There may be a need for someone to help keep track of the work if the Rector is away from the office.

Fifth Saturday at Salvation Army – June 29 is the 5th Saturday in June and is the day we assist other Episcopal Churches and the Salvation Army serve lunch. The work isn’t difficult. The work is rewarding. Our participation is a part of our Community Outreach efforts. We need someone to step up this month to assist for a couple hours (max) serving the underserved. Please contact Anne on her cell for more information or to volunteer to work.

Kroger Community Rewards – This past quarter there were 6 families who participated in the Kroger Rewards program. We will receive a check for $44.34 for the purchases made at the Kroger family of stores. Our code is FA738 and you can sign up online to join the Kroger Rewards program and earn money for the church.

Formation Classes – All are invited to come together in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am. We are continuing our study of the Acts of the Apostles. Please contact the church office for a copy of the text.

Diocesan Bishop Search Prayer – Almighty and most gracious God, source of all wisdom and guidance, send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we seek and discern a shepherd for the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Inspire us with hope, hearts to love you and a desire to serve one another. Grant us grace to entrust you with the future of your Church and all things. We ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Soles-for-Souls – Edward Jones is sponsoring a shoe collection drive.  The program sends gently used shoes to people in need overseas. Please bring your used shoes to church to help this worthy cause. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 42 & 43 together.

Questions about the Episcopal Church and its Leadership – Over the coming weeks we will have a question about our Church and Leadership as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question: Where was Samuel Seabury consecrated a Bishop? Why was he consecrated in that Church? Answer: Samuel Seabury was consecrated in the Church of Scottish Episcopal Church in Aberdeen Scotland. He was consecrated in Scotland because they were part of the Anglican Church but were not beholden to the Church of England.
This week’s question: When was the first “Proposed Book of Common Prayer” published? On which Book of Common Prayer was it modeled? Look for the answer next week.

Altar flower Sign-up – There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for sponsoring flowers for the coming year. Please help beautify the altar during your choice of two-weeks this coming year.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Tuesdays through June: Boy Scouts (7:00 – 8:30 pm); June 20 – Knitting group; June 25 – Card Crafters; June 29 – Salvation Army luncheon.

Thought for the weekPresence: God is not some unknowable, divine being, far removed from human life. Rather, God is known and experienced in the tiny moments of daily living. We see God in the wonder and beauty of creation, and the awe of worship; we touch God, in the person of Jesus, and the simple elements of bread, wine, water, and oil; we know God, who is closer to us even than our own breath.
