In worship today we spent time remembering what it means to be called by God. Not just to a life filled with grace and mercy, but a life also filled with responsibility to God and the justice that God demands. The Psalmist reminded us that we need to be just and not favor those who are “best” for us. Paul added that we need to bear fruit for ourselves and for the world to be fed. Luke’s gospel told the age-old story of the good Samaritan. But we focused on the message from Amos – to tell the prophetic message of justice AND mercy; social responsibility and relationship with God and community based on God’s call not our profession. Where are you called by God to serve others?
