In worship today we continued our journey in Ordinary Time, exploring the mission of our church and the people who are faithful followers of God. We heard Luke’s version of the Lord’s Prayer and listened to the “bumper sticker” – ask, seek, and knock – until you hear God’s response (then repeat). The letter to the Colossians reminds us to not be swayed by the trivial things imposed by humans but to remain attached to God’s grace. Hosea offered a warning – if we continue to do our own thing without regarding God we may be allowed to wander off on our own. The future hope is based on the past performance of God and is tempered by our present reality. It doesn’t mean that we won’t be found with God in the end; it does mean we may have to work to get there.
I invite your comments,
