Today was a day that begins to bring our liturgical year to an end and, not surprisingly much of our readings had a focus on the coming end times and the restoration of creation by God. In our New Testament reading we heard Paul tell the Thessalonians that they should not grow weary doing what is right – something worth remembering in these tumultuous days. But Jesus offers an interesting perspective into life of a believer: (1) things we appreciate in the here-and-now will be destroyed; (2) before the end comes there will be a lot of suffering; and (3) we will be called to account and, while we should be prepared our preparation shouldn’t be in what we say but in how we have lived. We are called to serve others in the name of God, and that will be our testimony for our society and our defense.
I invite your comments,
