As we continue our worship journey in the Epiphany season, we were reminded today that God rules all creation and that God answers the prayers of those who call on God. Our purpose in our prayers is to find wholeness in God’s presence through our petition. Our Psalmist tells us that the Lord is our refuge and our taking refuge in God is nothing to be ashamed of. Our gospel reading from Luke relates Jesus’ story of being questioned by the people who “know” him asking who does he think he is? In Luke’s story Jesus is unappreciated in his on hometown because of the dynamics of understanding. The Epistle was from Paul’s 1st letter to the Corinthians and spoke of love. Ironically, it is better to not think of love in Paul’s perspective as an emotion but as a representative action of God’s presence in believers. Our sermon was based on the Hebrew Scripture from the prophet Jeremiah. In his account today we hear Jeremiah’s call by God and how much God was involved with Jeremiah before he was born. God reminded him that God has a plan for each person and that the person is made specifically to do their part (if they choose to).
We are exactly what we need to be as witnesses to God’s grace. I invite your comments,
