Christmas Eve Service – Will be held starting at 5:00 pm, December 24.

Annual Meeting and Potluck – The meeting will take place following the worship service on Jan 5th. Following the meeting, we will enjoy each other’s fellowship in the Parish Hall with a potluck.

Longest Night Service – There will be a Longest Night Service this Sunday, December 22nd at 7:00 pm at St. John’s. This service is a time for questions and remembrance during the hectic Christmas season.

Vestry Election – Congratulations and thanks to Marcella who was elected to the Vestry for the coming three years.

Community Christmas Carol Sing – Suffolk Presbyterian Church, 410 N. Broad St., will hold Caroling on the Lawn Sunday, December 22 beginning at 5:00 pm.

Advent Soup Lunch & Study – Thank you for all who participated in and provided soup and bread for our Advent study of Luke. It was a rewarding study of the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus.

Formation Classes – All are invited to come together in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am. We are continuing our study of the Acts of the Apostles. Please contact the church office for a copy of the text.

Soles-for-Souls – There is a collection box to help this worthy cause in the parish hall. Consider giving gently used or new shoes for those in need. For more information see their website:

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 80:1-7, 16-18 together.

Questions about Our Protestant Heritage – Over the coming weeks we will have a question about our Protestant heritage and faith as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
            Last week’s question and answer: Question: Where was the Anabaptist movement founded? Answer. It began forming in the sixteenth century.
            This week’s question: The Anabaptists are often referred to as “radical.” What does that term mean in the context of the Anabaptists? Look for the answer next week.
