In worship today, we opened with the reminder that Jesus is the one that brings true life to the world. Our job and our mission is to live in the world as Christ did and to make the saving grace of God in Christ known. Our psalmist sang a song that tells the world that the one who confesses and repents their sin will rejoice because their confession will lead to reconciliation. The guilt can be cast away when we return to God. Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians reminds us that all things are made new in Christ, day by day and choice by choice. The gospel reading was the parable of the Prodigal Son/Loving Father and another reminder that we will be welcomed back to relationship with God if we only return. Our sermon was loosely based on the Hebrew Scripture from Joshua. In this lesson, Joshua institutes a renewed relationship between God and the Israelites as they arrive at the end of their 40-year sojourn. We are invited to consider the new things we learn each day and how our experience can lead us to a deeper relationship with God and community. But, as we learn things we need to keep our eye on the landmark, Jesus. And, if need be, we need to circle back to reestablish our focus on the landmark.

I invite your comments,
Les+
