While the readings shared a common focus on the phenomenon of the Lament there was a thread in the gospel and the collect of the day that spoke to faith and being stewards of God’s bounty. As Bishop Holly reminded us today, our fear often keeps us from being faithful in our dealing with God. At times, our fear overrides our sense of calling by God to be fruitful and alive with our bounty yet, as he shared in a story, sometimes the way to insure you have enough to last a lifetime is to give more away (you’ll have to listen to see how that works out). Bottom line, holding on tight can actually cause us to lose control of the thing we hold on to.

I invite your comments,
