An image to offer as we reflect on scripture: watching favorite movies for the “100th” time. We watch our favorite movies, even though we know the movie doesn’t change because there’s always something to pick up in the favorite story of old. The bible is no different. Even though we “know the finish” – God wins – we look for God’s presence in the Word. We remember today it isn’t enough to be pious, or dedicated, or contrite, or humble without those practices leading to a deeper relationship with God. While we may, rightly, recognize our failures God is asking us to move from that recognition to the realization of a deeper relationship with God in the process. Our prayer isn’t just a ritual – our prayer is the entry into relationship with God. How are you finding a new relationship with God in the midst of your favorite story of life?
I invite your comments,
