Worship Experiment – Based on the feedback from the 4-week experiment with an all-inclusive bulletin/order of worship, the Vestry has decided to move forward and continue printing leaflets with the entire service included. However, we need to procure a full working copy of the software and create a procedure for producing the bulletins. The latter aspect is needed just in case Don or Fr. Les is unable to produce bulletins. We will need a number of people who are willing to learn how to produce bulletins if needed. But, this week we will go back to the “standard” bulletin of yore.
Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry – The Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their fall Fish Fry on Saturday, September 24 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Tickets are available around the area. Please come out and support the local All-Volunteer Fire Department.
Painting the Parlor – The parlor will be painted beginning Thursday September 15 and will, hopefully, be done by Sunday. Please be aware that there may be wet paint inside the front door in the Parish House.

Rev. Greg Ryan Medical Fund – Thank you to all who participated in the fund raiser last weekend. The first report from Oakland Christian United Church of Christ was they received about $15,000 from the fund raiser. That puts the funds raised to date at approximately $59,000 (out of a needed $95,000). Every little bit helps.

Farewell to the Hickory Tree – Goodrich and Sons Backhoe and Tree Service removed the remainder of the hickory tree in the graveyard. For those who are interested, it is estimated the tree was between 220-250 years old when it fell.
Church Quiz – Over the coming weeks we will have a “Church Quiz” as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question: Why is the Church described as apostolic? Answer: The Church is apostolic, because it continues in the teaching and fellowship of the apostles and is sent to carry out Christ’s mission to all people. (BCP p. 854)
This week’s question: What is the mission of the Church? Look for the answer next week.
Formation Classes – This week we will discuss our Old Testament reading, Jeremiah 8:18-9:1, “The Prophet Mourns for the People.” Next week’s class will discuss our Old Testament reading Jeremiah 32:1-3a, 6-15, “Jeremiah Buys a Field During the Siege.” All are invited to join the conversation in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am.
Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we will read the psalm antiphonally.
Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.
Sanctuary Accessibility – While the Rector is in the office the Sanctuary will be unlocked and available for sanctuary, reflection, and meditation. If you know of anyone who might benefit from a little quiet time and space, they are welcome to stop by the Church.
Upcoming Parish Events – Sep. 19 – G. F. W. C. Junto Women’s club meeting.
Thought for the week – Steward: We don’t possess our own lives. I would say we are stewards of the life that God has given us, and for however long God continues to give us breath. I think of it as being loaned back into life after baptism.
