Our prayers are offered for all the members of St. John’s and all our loved ones. We are especially mindful of your presence, either in person or in prayer, at the beginning of September. Coupled with the actual storms either looming ahead of that have hammered the United States. We also pray for peace in our world and for all who are touched by political, social, and climatological turmoil. Yet, we celebrate the beginning of another month and the chance to meet and worship. It is in the process of worship that we are reminded of God’s presence and how we become part of eternity when we worship.
A lot of threads going on today: sometimes it is easy to be distracted by the busyness in the readings. Yet, our reading from Exodus came to light in a new way today. As Moses comes into God’s presence on the mountain at the burning bush, what would the impact be if God’s invitation was more than cleanliness; rather it was an invitation to stop and hear God’s plan? Sometimes that is what God is inviting us to do – to simply sit in God’s presence and trust the plan offered by God will succeed (because in the long run God succeeds). Jesus helps us see that we are still called to be steady on, waiting, listening, then acting, and trusting that God will succeed. And guess what… God does!
I invite your comments,
