Greetings on the Sunday of Peace – the Sunday of the messenger who provides the good news in their day. Today was a beautiful day, brisk but sunny – a nice change after the blustery and grey days of this past week. We continued our celebration in the season of waiting, but also in expectation of what lies ahead. We also celebrated our study of the story of Advent through the lens of the Old Testament/Hebrew bible this past Wednesday (and will continue this Wednesday) as we learned about where our hope is founded.
In worship today we heard the story from the Prophet about God who will provide comfort in the midst of our battles. God is there with us and is strong enough to defeat our foes at the same time God is able to comfort the least in creation. We looked at how the good news we receive is based on what we hope for; and what we hope for is based on the promises made and received through Scripture. Part of our goal and work in Advent is centered on sharing our hopes and looking for God’s presence in the messengers sent to help us.
I invite your comments,
