Bishop Diocesan Search – The Diocesan Standing Committee is taking applications for the Search and Transition Committees as we call a new Bishop to lead our Diocese. Please see the link below for the application. Working on these committees will involve email, so it’s very important for you to submit your application electronically to susan@susangrimm.com. Please prayerfully consider your application, and together we will seek God’s will for our next Bishop of Southern Virginia.
The Search and Nomination Committee interviews and selects candidates to present to Standing Committee for nomination as the next Bishop of Southern Virginia. The Transition Committee’s key responsibilities include walkabouts, assist in the election process, ordination & consecration in conjunction with the Diocesan Liturgical Commission, and pastoral care of those in the process.

Poison Ivy – In our travels around the churchyard, we have located poison ivy in a number of places in the open. Don sprayed some of the poison ivy, but we found more this morning. It isn’t an issue and there is none in the front area of the property, but there is some at the tree line to the back yard.
Formation Classes – We will begin our discussion of “My Servants the Prophets,” chapter 11, Haggai this week. Check you Wednesday Christian Education e-mail for the chapter as some chapters will take more than one Sunday to get through. All are invited to join the conversation in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am.
Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 138 together. The Psalm will be set to Hymn 609, “Where cross the crowded ways of life,” (Gardiner) from the Hymnal. The words and music will be found on a bulletin insert.
Church Quiz – Over the coming weeks we will have a “Church Quiz” as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question Concerning the book of Jeremiah: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Answer: The book of Jeremiah is found in the Major Prophets division of the Old Testament; it has 52 chapters.
This week’s question: Concerning the book of Job: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Look for the answer next week.

Upcoming Parish Events – Ongoing: Tuesdays – Boy Scouts meeting. June 9 – James River Rug Hookers; June 10 – Eagle Scout Court of Honor (3:00-4:30 pm); June 16 – 3rd Annual Peanut Chase.
Thought for the week – Pay Attention: Pay attention to your life and presume that your life is to be lived sacramentally: recurring outward signs of inward grace. Even the simplest elements of life are laced with meaning on more than one level
