Good day, one and all. It has been a blustery day in Chuckatuck but a nice day none the less. We have been blessed to celebrate the last Sunday after Pentecost in our liturgical year and prepare for the coming year with the First Sunday of Advent next week. But, in order to not get ahead of ourselves we are firmly focused on the “unofficial” celebration of Christ the King Sunday. Today is a double blessing too, Christ the King Sunday AND the Community Thanksgiving Service. We host this year and will have a congregation that will include members from many/most of the churches in greater Chuckatuck – if you’re in the area and can stop by, please do.

The readings this morning showed different aspects of the person of Jesus: Christ the good Shepherd, Christ the King (Christus Rex), and Christ the Savior. Our readings and reflection help us remember that there are many ways to perceive the one person of Jesus (and God) and that none of those perceptions are more right than the other. Rather, we realize that the way Jesus and God are perceived is impacted by our point of view and the life situation we are in. Yet, we are charged to point to the immutable aspects of Christ – unmerited grace, justice for all, and mercy to name a few. Our mission is to speak out for justice, mercy, and grace for all – not just ourselves or those like us, all.

I invite your comments,
Les+
