Pledges – Pledge cards and letters are available in the Narthex. Please pick your package up to help save a few dollars in postage. Please return your pledges by December 3 to allow the Vestry to complete their budget planning for 2018.

Greening of the Church – Because the Fourth Sunday of Advent is also Christmas Eve, we will green the church in preparation for Christmas on December 17. We won’t put poinsettias out until Christmas, but the Church will be greened early.

December Celebratory Get-together – On December 8 at 6:00 pm there will be a “general celebratory get-together” in honor of birthdays, anniversaries, and retirements that have occurred in November and December. Cake will be provided but please bring hors d’oeuvres to share. For more information contact Toni.

Community Thanksgiving Service – Thank you to all who attended last Sunday’s Community Thanksgiving Service. It was a joyous and enthusiastic time.

“Job Jar” – The Vestry has moved to create a “Job Jar” that will be filled with simple tasks that will help do simple maintenance around the church grounds. The goal is to break down needed repairs to 30-60-minute tasks that anyone can do. The jar will be in the Parish House or Sanctuary, depending on the day. Stop by and help do some needed work at the Church.

Church Quiz – Over the coming weeks we will have a “Church Quiz” as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question Which candle on the altar is referred to as the Gospel candle? Answer: The candle on the left-hand side of the altar as the congregation views the altar.
This week’s question: Which candle on the altar is referred to as the Epistle candle? Look for the answer next week.

Formation Classes – This week we will discuss our New Testament reading, the Psalm appointed for the day; Psalm 100, “All Lands Summoned to Praise God.” Next week we will discuss our Old Testament reading Isaiah 64:1-9, “A Prayer of Penitence.” All are invited to join the conversation in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 100 together. The Psalm will be set to Hymn 212, “Awake, arise, lift up your voice” (Richmond) from the Hymnal. The words and music will be found on a bulletin insert.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Ongoing: Tuesdays – Boy Scouts meeting. Nov. 28 – Card Crafters meeting; Dec. 3 – Parish Meeting; Dec. 6 – Advent Soup Lunch & Study.

Thought for the week – Forgiveness: Loving one’s enemy has to be worked at with earnest prayer and meditation, aided by the silent language of faith.
