Spring Workday – We have a tentative schedule for the spring workday of Saturday March 24 from 8:00-11:00 am. If you are able to assist cleaning the church yard for Easter please contact the Junior Warden or the Rector. If you are not able to assist on Saturday but want to help, please contact the Junior Warden or Rector.
Lenten Program – We have had three good weeks studying The Good Book Club sponsored by Forward Movement press this Lent. Next week we will cover week 5 materials. If you need a handout please contact the Rector.
No Kid Hungry – There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday March 21 at 9:30 am at the East Suffolk Recreational Center, 138 S. 6th Street for the USDA Summer Food Service Program. The program provides food for children under age 18 that live in low-income areas. The program needs assistance in many ways, serving meals and doing activities are in biggest need. If you want more information about the program or how you can assist speak with the Rector or check the program website at: www.fns.usda.gov/summerfoodrocks.

Inclement Weather Policy – Safety is first and foremost at St. John’s. We will follow the Suffolk School District with respect to closures. If we have an event planned expect it to continue as scheduled BUT if you do NOT feel safe getting to the Church, please stay home. Your safety is more important to us than your presence is.
Easter Pies from Oakland Christian UCC – Oakland Christian UCC is selling pies again for Easter. Pies are $10 each and they are selling Chocolate Chess, Lemon Chess, Coconut, and Pecan pies. Order deadline is March 27; pickup days are March 29 and 30. See the order form at church for more information.
2018 Tax Strategies Presentation – Oakland Christian United Church of Christ will host an informative Tax Planning Seminar on Sunday, March 18 beginning at 6:00 pm. All are invited to attend and to RSVP for this free presentation contact the Oakland church office. Please see the flyer for more information.
Formation Classes – This week will continue our discussion of “My Servants the Prophets,” chapter 4, Jonah. Next week’s class we will continue our discussions from “My Servants the Prophets.” Check you Wednesday Christian Education e-mail for the chapter as some chapters will take more than one Sunday to get through. All are invited to join the conversation in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am.
Sunday’s Psalm – During Lent, our Psalm will be spoken.
Church Quiz – Over the coming weeks we will have a “Church Quiz” as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
