Diocesan Bishop Search Prayer – Almighty and most gracious God, source of all wisdom and guidance, send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we seek and discern a shepherd for the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Inspire us with hope, hearts to love you and a desire to serve one another. Grant us grace to entrust you with the future of your Church and all things. We ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 50:1-8, 23-24 together.

Questions about the Episcopal Church and its Leadership – Over the coming weeks we will have a question about our Church and Leadership as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question: What do the following terms mean: burse, corporal, fair linen? Answer. Burse – Square fabric-covered case in which the communion linens are often carried to and from the altar. Corporal – Square white linen cloth placed on the center of the fair linen on the altar, on which the Eucharistic vessels are placed for the celebration of Holy Communion. Fair linen – Top white linen cloth covering the altar and thus serving as the table cloth for the Lord’s Supper.
This week’s question: What do the following terms mean: chasuble, cope, crosier, dalmatic, miter? Look for the answer next week.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Tuesdays: Boy Scouts (7:00 – 8:30 pm); Aug. 10 – James River Rug Hookers; Aug. 14 – Summer Creek Estates meeting; Aug. 15 – Knitting Group.

Thought for the weekLabels: When we label others, we stop seeing them as they are. We see them only as we are determined to see them, as we have decided that they must be. It’s important, then, to ask ourselves: Can I set aside my labels and take a fresh look?
