Diocesan Bishop Search Prayer – Almighty and most gracious God, source of all wisdom and guidance, send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we seek and discern a shepherd for the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Inspire us with hope, hearts to love you and a desire to serve one another. Grant us grace to entrust you with the future of your Church and all things. We ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 139:1-5, 12-17 together.
Questions about the Episcopal Church and its Leadership – Over the coming weeks we will have a question about our Church and Leadership as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question What do the following terms mean: catechumen, ordinary, versicle? Answer. Catechumen – A person (usually an adult or older youth) preparing for Holy Baptism through a process of formation and special rites leading up to baptism, often at the Easter Vigil. Ordinary – Those parts of the eucharistic liturgy which do not change from week to week. Versicles – Brief lines of scripture (often from the psalms) sung or said responsively in certain rites, including daily prayer.
This week’s question: What is the rule for finding the date of Easter Day? Look for the answer next week.
Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.
Upcoming Parish Events – Tuesdays: Boy Scouts (7:00 – 8:30 pm); Sep. 5 – Knitting Group; Sep. 6 & 7 – Bishop Search Walkabouts; Sep. 8 – Supply Clergy.
Thought for the week – Gratitude: It is gratitude, thankfulness to God, which draws us to worship, and which enables us to make vows which deepen the intimacy of our relationship with God and with each other.
