“I sing a song of the saints of God, patient and brave and true…” Grace and peace on All Saints’ Sunday – we remember all the saints past, present, and future as we worship this Sunday. We did specifically remember those who have recently gone before us, those who have passed away recently: the true saints who are among the “multitude who are beyond number” waiting for us in heaven. A reminder today of the connection we have through the toils and blessing of life with all creation.

In worship we looked at Jesus’ sermon on the mount and his description of those who are blessed. We are asked to consider whether those traits Jesus lists are requirements for entry (do I have to be poor in spirit to get in? What if I have a strong spirit for the most part?) or are those traits “simply” characteristics of those in heaven that aren’t “the greatest” by the world’s standards. Our job as believers is to live and work however we are called to work for God and not measure ourselves by an unimportant standard.

I invite your comments,
Les+
