Diocesan Advent Retreat
– On December 1-2, Bishop Haynes and members of the diocesan staff will be leading an Advent Retreat at Chanco on the James. The theme of the retreat is “Preparing for the Holy One Through Rule of Life.” Registration for the Advent Retreat is now open at www.chanco.org. Questions about the retreat should be directed to Chanco at hospitality@chanco.org or 888-724-2626.

Prayer for Peace in the Middle East – In response to the outbreak of violence in Israel and Palestine you are invited to lift the region in prayer for the cessation of hostilities. A Litany for the Restoration of Peace in the Holy Land to lead your prayers can be found at this link.

Future Visioning – Because Fr. Ferguson is departing effective November 6, all members of the Parish will be asked to assist in determining the future of St. John’s. Along with assistance from the Diocesan Staff we will determine what our future ministry in Chuckatuck will be. Please watch for further announcements.

Ladies Luncheon Outing – The ladies of the Parish luncheons will be the second Thursday of the month. Lunch begins at 11:30 am. More information will follow as the date gets closer.

Diocesan Tidings – Your Diocesan staff publishes a weekly newsletter, the Tidings, which lists the happenings in the Diocese and shares stories from around Southern Virginia. If you haven’t subscribed already, you can sign up for this informative newsletter at this link.

Thought for the weekAudacity:  Today and tomorrow, as we remember the countless saints and souls, known and unknown, who have lived lives of faith, we proclaim boldly, brashly, and with incredible audacity, I believe in the resurrection of the body, and once more Lazarus emerges from his tomb, and we take from him the rags of death.
