Greetings and blessing on the second Sunday in January. Winter has returned since our mid-week springtime but, thankfully, no snow this week. It was a blessing to gather for worship and our annual Parish meeting this morning. We paused to consider where we have been in the past year and where we hope to head in the coming year. We celebrated a transition in leadership on the Vestry as Marcella rotated off and David returned to service. Our reflection of where we’ve been shines light on our growth and vitality as a Parish. We pray that your continued Epiphany journey is a true epiphany for you.
In worship today we heard stories of listening as it impacts our faith. Samuel (meaning God has heard) listens to Eli’s counsel to invite God to speak to him (Samuel). We realized that Eli was effective in leading Samuel, almost in spite of his waning faith and awareness of God. Jesus also listened to Nathanael to truly hear what was at his heart as opposed to only hearing. We are invited to listen for God and reflect on how God is inviting us to respond to the world around us. How is God inviting you to listen?
I invite your comments,
Les+
