Spring Workday – Thank you to all who helped on Saturday last with the clean up the church yard for our Palm Sunday and Easter celebrations.

Lenten Program – We finished the first 5 weeks of The Good Book Club study of Luke. There is the opportunity to continue our study until Pentecost, looking at the book of Acts. The study does not have to be at lunch but can be at a different time of day. If you are interested in continuing the study of Acts please contact the Rector.

Inclement Weather Policy – Safety is first and foremost at St. John’s. We will follow the Suffolk School District with respect to closures. If we have an event planned expect it to continue as scheduled BUT if you do NOT feel safe getting to the Church, please stay home. Your safety is more important to us than your presence is.

Formation Classes – We will take a break this week from our study but will continue our discussion of “My Servants the Prophets,” chapter 5, Amos and begin chapter 6, Hosea. Next week’s class we will continue our discussions from “My Servants the Prophets.” Check you Wednesday Christian Education e-mail for the chapter as some chapters will take more than one Sunday to get through. All are invited to join the conversation in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am.

Sunday’s Psalm – Our Psalm will be spoken this week.

Church Quiz – Over the coming weeks we will have a “Church Quiz” as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question Concerning the book of Ezekiel: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Answer: The book of Ezekiel is found in the Major Prophets division of the Old Testament; it has 48 chapters.
This week’s question: Concerning the book of Ezra: which testament is it in? What division is it in? How many chapters does it have? Look for the answer next week.

2018 Flower Chart – The schedule for 2018 is posted in the Narthex. Please sign-up for your special days. If you have any questions, contact Lynn.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Ongoing: Tuesdays – Boy Scouts meeting. Mar. 29 – Maundy Thursday; Mar. 30 – Good Friday; Apr. 1 – Easter Sunrise and regular service; Apr. 2 – Easter Monday, office closed.

Thought for the week – Journey: We cannot know the power of the Empty Tomb without first knowing the fear of Good Friday. We cannot know our need of a savior, both ours and the world’s, without first walking the path that leads from the palm strewn road of Palm Sunday to the fear filled road of Good Friday. This week is not an easy week because in it we will discover once more all that is within us, both light and dark, both good and evil. But all who seek the Garden of the Resurrection must walk this way.
