Lenten Program – Our Lenten Study completed Wednesday, April 10, in “The Way of Love” Chapter 4. There is one more chapter to cover if there is interest in finishing the program. Thank you to all who participated in the study this year.

Diocesan Bishop Search Prayer – Almighty and most gracious God, source of all wisdom and guidance, send your Holy Spirit to guide us as we seek and discern a shepherd for the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Inspire us with hope, hearts to love you and a desire to serve one another. Grant us grace to entrust you with the future of your Church and all things. We ask in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Soles-for-Souls – Edward Jones is sponsoring a shoe collection drive.  The program sends gently used shoes to people in need overseas. Please bring your used shoes to church to help this worthy cause. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.

Upcoming Blood Drives – St. John’s will be hosting a Red Cross blood drive on May 16 from 2:00 – 7:00 pm and Edward Jones will follow with a blood drive in July. Please plan to donate or to help solicit volunteers for both drives.

Formation Classes – All are invited to come together in the Parish Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 am. We will begin a study reflecting on the weekly lessons from the Revised Common Lectionary.

Sunday’s Psalm – This Sunday we sing the portion of the Psalter together using a metrical version of the Psalter from A New Metrical Psalter by Christopher Webber as we sing Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24 together.

Questions about the Episcopal Church and its Leadership – Over the coming weeks we will have a question about our Church and Leadership as part of our announcements and e-News. All are invited to think about and answer the week’s question. Answers will be provided the following week.
Last week’s question and answer: Question: Who is responsible for the work of the church at the parish level? Answer: The parishioners are responsible for work at the parish, through the leadership of their rector and their elected vestry.
This week’s question: What is a vestry? Look for the answer next week.

Altar flower Sign-up – There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for sponsoring flowers for the coming year. Please help beautify the altar during your choice of two-weeks this coming year.

Hospitality hour Sign-up – The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board; please sign-up for an upcoming Sunday. If you would like to help but cannot provide all the items for coffee hour/lemonade on the lawn any assistance, even a single item, will be graciously accepted.

Upcoming Parish Events – Tuesdays through June: Boy Scouts (7:00 – 8:30 pm); Apr. 20 – preparation for Easter.

Thought for the week Weep: We can look around and see plentiful sorrow, and we may be unable to fix it. We may find no words, no actions, are sufficient to dress the wounds of the world. So, take heart; do not shun your tears. Do not be ashamed or afraid or dismissive of weeping, for tears can be living water.
