Sunday Worship – We will simulcast Holy Communion at 10:30 for those who will continue to participate remotely. Please contact the Rector to pick up pre-consecrate elements for at-home Communion if you would like. The link to worship on our YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/BJ4Ot3rInmA.
Relaxation of COVID measures – Your Vestry has approved a variety of changes in how we will gather and worship as the COVID-19 pandemic begins to abate. We are on track to return to the sanctuary NEXT SUNDAY July 4. As we have been absent from the sanctuary for over a year, there are a few items to address before we can worship in a restored space. Your patience is appreciated.
Zoom Coffee Hour – We will have a Zoom Coffee hour this Sunday. Joining instructions will be forwarded separately.

Town Hall Meeting – The Greater Oakland & Chuckatuck Civic League and City Council are sponsoring a Town Hall meeting on Monday, June 28, 2021, at 6:00 pm. It will be at the Oakland Elementary School. Please contact Kitty Martin 757-377-6552 if you wish to attend.
Bishop’s Open Office Hours – The Bishop and Canon Hoffman will have open office hours at each convocation visit. The hours will be 9:30 am – 11:30 am and 2:00 – 4:00 pm in most cases. It will be open to everyone (clergy and lay) and will be on a first come, first served basis. This will occur on July 7th at St. Paul’s in downtown Suffolk.
Kroger Rewards Program – We received $40.90 from Kroger’s Community Rewards program. This was generated by eight households with their Kroger rewards card linked to St. John’s.
Questions to consider – (1) What gifts have we, as individuals or as a church, been given to share with our community? (2) Who do we have contact with that we can share our church with?
Worship Volunteers – Thank you to Jim for reading last week during worship.
St. John’s YouTube Channel – As we transition from worshipping in the Parish Hall we will continue to live stream (if possible) and publish recorded worship on our YouTube channel. Our channel URL is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2QWNHHKVPYpp8mKcveYd5A
Soles-for-Souls – There is a collection box to help this worthy cause in the parish hall. Consider giving gently used or new shoes for those in need. For more information see their website: www.soles4souls.org.
Thought for the week – Silence: God, who with all power could come in any form, surprises us in silence. We are caught off guard because it is contrary from the force and pride we are accustomed to in the use of power. Silence is contrary to the cascading words and noise of our daily life. Instead, silence invites us to stop and listen deeply to what is in us and in others.
