Parish Hall Hazards – Please be aware there are hazards on the east and north side of the Parish House. The ground has been disturbed and will be fully repaired after the roof is complete. There is debris in the grass around the building, some have had issues with nails penetrating tires.
The chestnut trees have started to drop nuts. There may be trip hazards under and around the two trees for the coming weeks. Please be careful where you walk and park in front of the Parish House.
Mutual Ministry Review – There will be a Mutual Ministry Review for the Rector and Parish leaders on September 30. The review will be led by the Rev. Canon James Harlan, the Diocesan Canon Evangelist. The review is a periodic event which was last held in 2012. There will be more information as the day approaches, but the review is a time where we as a body look at how we minister together in our community. It will, hopefully, serve as a starting point for continued mutual ministry in Chuckatuck.
CAPS Fundraiser BBQ – CAPS is holding their annual fundraiser on this Sunday September 19, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Contact the office to purchase tickets. We may be able to have a mass pick-up of meals if there is enough interest.
Worship Service video – Because there is no internet in the sanctuary, we will have a video of worship available on our YouTube channel on Sunday afternoon. A link to the video will be provided separately. Our channel URL is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2QWNHHKVPYpp8mKcveYd5A

COVID-19 Policy update – Based on the resurgence of COVID-19, the Vestry has adopted these measures for activities at St. John’s: (1) Masking, even for fully vaccinated people, should be worn. (2) Social distancing should be observed. (3) Singing should be with masks. (4) Coffee hour should be with individually pre-packaged food and drinks.
Parish House reshingling – There has been a slight delay in completing the reshingling of the Parish House. The first estimate for completion is early- to mid-October.
Questions to consider – (1) What gifts have we, as individuals or as a church, been given to share with our community? (2) Who do we have contact with that we can share our church with?
Thought for the week – Inclusion: Jesus’ compassion reached out to “outcasts and sinners,” the poor, the sick, the oppressed, marginalized people of every kind. The example of Jesus pushes us to examine the barriers we may be tempted to erect in order to exclude those who are not of the same socio-economic or cultural background as we are, or who differ from us in ways that make us uncomfortable.
