May your journey this Holy Week continue to be blessed by God’s presence as our Lenten reflections become clearer. We gathered in spirit and remembering that wherever “2 or 3 are gathered” in God’s name, God is in the midst of them.
Our journey this Maundy Thursday began with the reminder of the power of the rituals Jesus instituted on the first Maundy Thursday – servanthood and Communion. Our Hebrew Scripture from Exodus described the first Passover as Israel was being delivered from bondage in Egypt. Our lesson from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians reiterated the acts instituted on Maundy Thursday. Our gospel reading from John was Jesus washing the Disciple’s feet at the Last Supper and Jesus’ command to serve as he did. Our focus statement was found in the Psalmist’s question “how can I repay the Lord for all the great things he has done for me?”
We begin to repay God by being faithful to God’s call to service. Not only serving others but gathering and sharing in the Eucharis meal with others. We also repay God by ministering to each other to remove the clutter and mess that get in the way of following God.
I invite your comments,
