Happy Sunday and the official All Saints Sunday, November is upon us and the memory of our past continues to be with us. We are working on our church and making it a safe place for people to worship and be nurtured. We started work on the walkway at church and have had our contractor renovate about 30′ so far (and about 120′ left to do) and the work helps make the approach to the sanctuary a little more homey and inviting. This will be a nice step to show our thanks during the community Thanksgiving service being held at St. John’s in 2 weeks’ time. Invite your friends to come and join us in the celebration.
The work we do on the physical plant of the church is a celebration of the life of our Parish. The life we live is a reflection of the presence of God in our lives and in our community. As with most churches, the life of our Parish and Congregation is marked with “successes” and “failures”. Quotes because, as our scripture told us today, the successes and failures may sting but the possibility that is God’s life and eternal life with God helps us overlook what society deems a failure. God asks us to do the work we feel helps us complete God’s work on the earth, even when we feel like we’re failing we realize that God has a plan – all we have to do is stick with it. How are you invited to participate – not for “success” but to simply compete in God’s work?
I invite your comments,
Les+
